About the Program:
“Shubharambh” is an evening of classical dance where Suman Bari will present a Bharatanatyam Margam. The program will begin with a Pushpanjali, followed by an Allaripu. The main piece of the evening will be a Varnam dedicated to Sri Rama, set to Raag Todi and Taal Adi. The Varnam is musically composed by Sri Sitarama Sharma, choreographed by Smt Praveena Kutty, and revisualised by Sri Samrat Dutta. The program will also feature a Padam composed by Mutthu Tandavaar, set to Raag Kalyani and Taal Chaturashra Ekam, and a Thillana set to Raag Malkonsh and Taal Adi.
About Suman Bari:
Suman Bari, a dedicated disciple of Shri Samrat Dutta, began her dance journey under Smt Munmun Mukherjee at Bandel, West Bengal. She furthered her training in Bharatanatyam at Saraswat Sanskriti Kendra, Kolkata, under Guru Smt Anita Mallick, and continued her studies with Smt Jonaki Sarkar and Smt Parvati Gupta at Dancers Guild, Kolkata. Suman has also enriched her dance repertoire by participating in workshops led by renowned figures such as Padmabhushan Late Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar and Sri Vaibhav Arekar. Additionally, she has explored other dance forms through workshops conducted by distinguished gurus including Smt Srimayi Vempati in Kuchipudi, Sri Sandip Mullick in Kathak, and Smt Sangeeta Sharma in Contemporary dance. A former repertory member of Dancers Guild, Suman has performed extensively under their banner. Currently, she runs her own dance institute in Salt Lake.
