The various denominations of the Christian will hold inter-denominational prayer with the title, “Seek the Shalom of the City’ on Saturday, at Convent of Jesus and Mary School, (CJM), near Bangla Sahib to pray for peace and harmony in the country.
The Delhi Ecumenical Movement is a group of different Christian denominations which include Catholic Archdiocese of Delhi, Syro-Malabar Church, Syro-Malankara Church, Church of North India, Methodist Church, Evangelical Churches, Oriental Churches, other Pentocostal Churches etc.
The annual prayer meet by the Delhi Ecumenical Movement aims to work for peace and harmony in the nation through prayer and worship.
The theme of this year prayer meet is aimed to spread the message of peace to all the countrymen so that everyone is able to live in violence free India. During the prayer meet, the heads of different Christian Denominations will offer prayer for different needs of the country. Some of the important and major needs of the country include prayer for Executives, Legislature and Judiciary. The aim of the movement is solely to bring about changes in the working of the authorities so that there may be a better understanding between different communities and all may live and practice ‘Shalom’.
Archbishop Anil J. T. Couto is the patron of the Ecumenical Movement whereas Fr. Norbert Herman, SVD is the coordinator and main organizer of the event.
